22.80 Crore of PAHAL and Ujjwala beneficiaries are given Cooking Gas Subsidies through DBT in their Aadhaar linked bank accounts.

Addressing India’s Aadhaar Biometric Digital Aadhaar ID, the World Bank stated that the UID initiative is estimated to save the Government about $1 billion annually by restraining corruption as it marked that digital technologies can elevate inclusion, efficiency, and innovation.

According to the World Bank Chief Economist Kaushik Basu, it is estimated that the Aadhaar Digital ID initiative is saving approximate ₹650 crore which is $1 billion a year that is by reducing leakage and corruption.

Aadhaar – Unique Identification Digital system has influenced to one billion population enabling masses of the poor to access services more easily and making feasible for the Government of India to deliver welfare services smoothly.

The government of India and UIDAI is on track to register or enroll its complete 1.25 billion of the population with Aadhaar. This would help the Government of India to promote the addition of needful group in its welfare schemes.

Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group stated that the introduction of digital technologies is transforming the worlds of business, work, and the Government. Further, he added that the Government should continue connecting everyone and should not leave anyone behind the cost of the lost opportunities is massive.

The Digital Gain to be broadly shared among all sections of the society, and the country also needs to enhance its business climate, invest in people’s education and health, and promote good administration.

Basu added that 40% of the world’s population is connected by the Internet which is a remarkable transformation. Though all these achievements are to be celebrated, this is also a season to be mindful that we do not create a new disadvantaged class. With almost 20% of the World’s Population which are unable to read and write, the expansion of digital technology alone is unlikely to spell the end of the global knowledge split.
