DIGILocker - A Digital India Initiative

DIGILocker is a Digital India Initiative launched by Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) Ministry of Communications & IT, Government of India.

By signing up for DigiLocker with Aadhaar Number every resident will get to securely store e-documents and Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) link of e-documents issued by various issuer departments, in in subsequent release of DIGILocker (DigitalLocker) the storage space allocation will be increased to 1GB. The e-Sign feature in DigiLocker system can be used to digitally sign e-documents.

Residents registered with DIGILocker (DigitalLocker) will be easily able to Share e-documents online with any registered requester department or agency.

How DIGILocker (DigitalLocker) will help Residents?

DIGILocker (DigitalLocker) will minimize the usage of physical documents and will provide genuineness of the e-documents as well as it will provide secure access to Govt. issued documents. DIGILocker service will also reduce administrative burden of agencies and Govt. departments and will make it easy for the residents to receive services.

UIDAI Standard Certificate Format for Aadhaar Enrolment Update
